In an eco-conscious effort, Gloomie Chérie sponsors its own beehive, partnering with Totem Terminal Artisanal, a small team of passionate local beekeepers who care deeply for bees and educate communities about their importance.

A percentage of every order helps support their work — caring for our pollinator friends and raising awareness about their vital role.

Bees are at the foundation of life on Earth. They pollinate roughly 75% of the world’s flowering plants, making them essential to the balance of our ecosystem. That’s a lot of hard work for such tiny creatures — and Gloomie Chérie is proud to do its part to help them thrive.

That’s why most of Gloomie Chérie’s soap ends and bars that don’t pass quality control are donated to La rue des femmes, a non-profit organization that supports homeless and at-risk women.

From her early days, Alicia nourished a whimsical wellspring of creativity that led her into the world of graphic design. Since 2012, she has been crafting with imagination and intention — but her heart always sought something more tactile, more magical.

In her youth, Alicia experimented with perfumes made from cucumber and coffee, which, though not olfactory masterpieces, hinted at the alchemist within.

It wasn’t until 2019, at 29, that she began creating handmade cosmetics from her Montreal apartment — a way to be kinder to her skin and soul. The spark of those creations caught fire, and what began as personal care soon turned into a calling.

Thus was born Spooks & Spanks, which later evolved into Gloomie Chérie — a brand rooted in self-love, mental health, and a belief that everyone deserves a touch of magic in their daily rituals.

From her kitchen to homes across Canada, the United States, Europe, and Japan, Alicia’s creations have carried not just fragrance and color, but care and intention.
